Course description

Spending a day getting to grips with some rock in the great outdoors can be one of the most memorable adventures kids can experience.

Our Kids Climb Too sessions give your little treasures a chance to experience danger without any er... danger and you can be safe in the knowledge that they are at all times under the supervision of a fully qualified climbing coach.

Course outline

The skills taught and practiced on the course will include:

  • Crag etiquette and environmental considerations
  • Warming up and stretching
  • Climbing gear and belaying
  • Climbing movement and technique

Typical programme

Although the course is flexible it will usually keep to the following programme:

  • 9:00-9:30 Arrival at course venue
  • 9:30-10:00 Walk to the crag
  • 10:00-13:00 Introduction to outdoor rock climbing
  • 13:00-14:00 Lunch and bouldering
  • 14:00-16:30 Climbing practice and route bagging
  • 16:30-17:00 Walk out from the crag
  • 17:00 Course ends

Teaching ratio

2-4 students per coach

Please note that students under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legally appointed guardian.

Previous experience

No experience is required. We'll we'll match the difficulty to the group.

Preparation and fitness

The good news is that you don't have to be ultra-fit to get the most out of this course.

We'll be climbing for up to six hours, but not continuously as half the time we'll be belaying climbing partners.

Consolidation and practice

We recommend that you take what you've learned straight back down your local crag and practice as much as possible.
