So you're a competent mountain biker and can be tempted onto even the most gnarly terrain. Perhaps you've tried trail centres and have been spoiled by their tempting way pointed trails. Now you'd like to try something a bit more off the beaten track, but don't have the wilderness MTB navigation skills to go with confidence.
Our Mountain Bike Navigation coaching course will give you skills to take your mountain bike into the wildest wilderness and mountain terrain in search of the perfect singletrack and make it out alive.
The skills taught and practiced on our Mountain Bike Navigation Workshop include:
Although the course is flexible it will usually keep to the following programme:

At the end of your course you will receive personalised feedback, an action plan to help you stay on track with your riding and 30 days free support.
No previous mountain bike experience is required, but you must be able to ride a bike with gears.
The good news is that you don't have to be ultra-fit to get the most out of this course.
We will be riding our bikes for around 3.5 hours in the afternoon, though not constantly and at an easy pace. We'll also be stopping regularly to coach skills.
We recommend that you take what you've learned straight out on the trail and practice navigating in a forest or moorland environment.
Deliberately get lost occasionally and amaze your friends with your new homing instincts.
Please refer to our equipment page for a complete list.
Each student will need a way of measuing distance in kilometres such as a GPS or a bike computer. You should already know how to read distance travelled on your device and how to start new laps (legs) in order to record intermediate distances. These are standard features on most GPS and bike computers.
You won't need to carry tools, a trailside repair kit or a first aid kit as your coach will have all of these.
