Classic Trails of The Peak District
Ride description
The Peak District is home to some of the most technically difficult terrain in the country. A technical descent like Jacob's Ladder is amongst one of the hardest descents you'll ever ride.
There's plenty for the novice and intermediate mountain bike riders too; beautiful scenery provides the perfect backdrop to some wonderful backcountry routes, taking in moors and dales in equal measure.
With only two days to enjoy what The Peak has to offer, you'll coming back for more time and time again.
Possible ride routes
- Hayfield Loop via Jacob's Ladder
- Mellor Moor, Middle Moor and Matley Moor via Hayfield
- Ladybower and Derwent Valley
- Kinder Reservoir and Beyond from Hayfield
Typical programme
Although the guided rides are flexible they will usually keep to the following programme:
- Day one 9:00-9:30 Arrival at course venue
- Day one 9:30-10:00 Introductions and equipment check
- Day one 10:00-17:00 Guided ride
- Day one 17:00 End of day one
- Day two 9:30-10:00 Introductions and equipment check
- Day two 10:00-17:00 Guided ride
- Day two 17:00 Ride ends

What's included?
YHA/guesthouse overnight accommodation is included in the price. However, we do not provide transport to and from the venue or between venues.
Previous experience
You must be a competent off-road mountain biker able to ride with confidence and commitment.
You will get the most out of the ride if you have already attended a Core Skills course.
Preparation and fitness
You will need to be able to ride on steep technical terrain for up to six hours a day for two days.
There will be ample opportunities for rests and a proper lunch break.
Equipment required
Please refer to our equipment page for a complete list.
You won't need to carry tools, a trailside repair kit or a first aid kit as your guide will have all of these.
