Snowdon via The Pyg Track
Snowdon, or Yr Wyddfa as it is correctly know in Welsh, is the highest mountain in Wales and is Great Britain's highest mountain south of the Scottish Highlands. There are many routes to the summit from all sides including the option to ride to the new summit cafe (Hafon Eryri) on the Snowdon Mountain Railway. However, one of the best quality routes is the path to the summit from Pen-y-Pass via The Pyg Track.
The Pyg Track follows along easy slopes underneath Crib Goch's jagged ridges before zig-zagging above the deep blue waters of Llyn Llydaw and Lynn Glaslyn. The route then continues with a climb up to the col between Snowdon and Garnedd Ugain and is completed via the path that runs parallel to the tracks of the railway.
The return route doubles back down the top half of the Pyg track before branching off down the Miner's Track giving you an opportunity to view Snowdon's twin lakes from their shores. For the more ambitious, and if time permits, we can complete the Snowdon Horseshoe by descending the South-East ridge and taking in the the twin peaks of Y Lliwedd on the way back to the car park at Pen-y-Pass.
Although the day is flexible it will usually keep to the following programme:
