Discover Scrambling
Course description
Dancing from rock to rock on exposed ridges needn't be exclusive to dare devil climbers and mountaineers. There are plenty of challenging mountain routes well within the reach of ordinary hill walkers who want to take their skills a step further, but without feeling like they need to reach into their rucksack for a rope every time they meet a difficult rocky step.
Our Discover Scrambling course is introduction to the sport of scrambling with the guidance of an experienced mountaineer as your coach.

No previous scrambling or climbing experience is required. However, you will get the most out of the day if you are a competent moorland walker.
You must have a head for heights and be comfortable spending a full day in the hills.
Preparation and fitness
You should have a good standard of fitness as we will be spending a full day walking and scrambling out in the hills.
Consolidation and practice
We recommend that you take what you've learned straight out on the trail and practice the skills as much as possible. Try to concentrate on the bits you have the most difficulty with as this will help them become second nature.
Equipment required
Please refer to our equipment page for a complete list.
You won't need to carry a map, compass, first aid kit or shelter as your guide will have all of this.
