Bowfell via The Great Slab
The summit of Bowfell is one of the most scenic in Lakeland and was high on Wainwright’s favourites list. It dominates the Western skyline of Langdale valley and the views from its summit are amongst the best in The Lakes.
The route followed here is that taken by Julia Bradbury in the BBC's Wainwright Walks series; traversing from The Band along the Climbers Traverse (a route rock climbers use to get to Bowfell Buttress), before clambering up The Great Slab (a huge rock that rises until just below the summit).

No previous experience of mountaineering is required. However, you will get the most out of the day if you are a competent moorland walker.
You must have a head for heights and be comfortable spending a full day in the hills.
You should have a good standard of fitness as we will be spending a full day walking and scrambling out in the hills.

You won't need to carry a map, compass, first aid kit or shelter as your guide will have all of this.
